The Philadelphia Fed Index, also known as the Business Outlook Survey, is a survey produced by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia which questions manufacturers on general business conditions. The index covers the Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Delaware region. Higher survey figures suggest higher production, which contribute to economic growth. Results are calculated as the difference between percentage scores with zero acting as the centerline point. As such, values greater than zero indicate growth, while values less than zero indicate contraction.^[1]

 

The Philadelphia Index is conducted monthly by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and questions voluntary participants on things such as unemployment, new orders, shipments, inventories, and prices paid. The report is released on the third Thursday of every month, making it the earliest such regional report which is released to investors.

[경제] 美 11월 필라델피아 제조업지수, 예상보다 큰 폭 둔화

 

뉴욕, 11월 17일 (로이터) - 미국 대서양 중부연안 지역의 제조업 경기흐름을 보여주는 필라델피아 제조업지수가 지난달의 급등세를 이어가지 못한 채 예상보다 큰 폭으로 둔화됐다.

필라델피아 연방은행은 17일 이번달 필라델피아제조업지수가 10월의 8.7에서 3.6으로 급락하며 로이터 전문가들의 전망치인 8.0을 크게 밑돌았다고 발표했다.

이지수는 0을 기준으로 그 이상이면 제조업 부문의 확장을, 그 이하면 수축을 의미한다.

필라델피아 제조업 보고서는 동부 펜셀베니아, 뉴저지 남부와 델라웨어지역을 커버하며 미국 제조업 경기의 흐름을 보여주는 미 관리자협 회(ISM) 제조업지표의 선행지표 역할을 담당한다.
